It took me a while to find this on CD, but I knew I desperately wanted it after hearing his other work for animated films.  There are a couple of thematic elements here in the album...the journey theme, the wolf theme, and the idea of winter all wraps the music together. Horner was certainly inspired by other classical composers of course--notably with the wolf theme--but it makes for a coherent album. There are pieces from the film not on the album (the ice cave, Balto meeting the wolves the first time), but it is mostly represented well, if out of order. How many others here have listened to the album? |

I love this CD. It has been quite some time since I have listened to it but is great. It is just hard to have the volume set right as the songs go from quiet to loud and back and forth.

Actually, that's the sign of good mastering. You want a large variation in soft/loud parts of the score on a symphonic album because all parts weren't meant to be played at the same volume. |

I live in a dorm with paper-thin walls, and to make matters worse, I live right next to my RA. But luckily, I don’t live in a 24-hour quiet wing  |

Yeah, 10:00PM is quite time around here, but you just don't want to overdo it. Which is slightly sad in of itself.
